![]() The ones in the ‘To Teach’ list are ones I am about to do with them. The first two lists “Childrens Songbook’ and ‘Other Songs’ are songs they know. Here’s my list of Nursery Repertoire to date in case you’re interested: Nursery Repertoire Boy I bet their parents would love to hear that! D They also sit on the floor around me – apparently they don’t do this ‘usually’ so they must really love our time together. They really love this routine, and we don’t even have to remind them, they just do it naturally. They are, of course, based on the same method we outlined on page 300 of the Children’s Songbook: State what the message of the song is, plan an attention-getter to start the song, and ask questions that can be answered by listening to. We sing the song and the kids hand back their props. Fourth, I have prepared suggested lesson plans for The Family is of God and the two hymns, I Stand All Amazed and Let the Holy Spirit Guide. I will either hand out a prop for the song we’re about to sing, or I have a hand puppet or book. I take along a box as well that has my props in it. We have started learning the chorus of Scripture Power and the kids have been happily clapping along and trying to sing the words. My aim is that by the end of the year we will be singing more ‘Primary Songbook’ songs than ‘Playschool’ songs. Of course they wouldn’t have known the Primary songs unless they were singing them in Family Home Evening, so I stuck with Playschool songs or ones they would have learned in Pre-school, then gradually introduced songs from the Primary Song Book. ![]() I started off the year singing familiar songs to them. We sing about five songs and then we sing ‘I Am A Child of God’ and our Nursery Leader helps a child say the closing prayer. I go in for the last 10 minutes of Church to do singing time with our Nursery. Usually 8 children each week, sometimes crazier. ![]() Just in case you’re curious (aren’t we all D ) I thought I would briefly explain our music in Nursery.
